Our Purpose
In the Sri Lankan Art context, Modernity has largely been identified as a phenomena similar to Capitalism. Artists were seen reluctant to explore the subjective dimensions of contemporary life, focusing instead on themes of capitalist progress and development. As per our view, Modern Art means expressing human subjectivity (antagonism) rather than representing external reality, nature or culture etc. This does not mean that we are prioritizing inside (inner essence) over outside. Instead of that, our endeavor is to express human subjectivity that blurs the line between this inside and outside. So our upcoming art exhibition seeks to break away with this former tradition (representing external reality, capitalist progress, culture, nature and so on...) and tries to engage with a new art form that can express our antagonistic subjectivity. This will not only challenge the artistic narrative in Sri Lanka and also challenges the viewer to engage with Art on a more subjective level.
I received my Bachelor of Visual Arts degree from Colombo University of the Visual and Performing Arts in 2016. My work primarily relies on painting as the principal artistic medium. It does not signify tradition and eschews moralistic overtones. In contrast, the contradictions inherent to human subjectivity are central to my artistic conception. This refers not to social resistance but to the identification of subjectivity itself. This approach concerns contemporariness, revealing contradictions of human life by challenging conventional artistic narratives.

Teran
I hold a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree from Colombo University of the Visual and Performing Arts, conferred in 2016. My approach to painting challenges conventional artistic norms and goes beyond aesthetics. The attempt to represent reality in art is not a revolutionary act in our time; rather, it merely implies documentation. It is subject to visual representation and seduction in the contemporary era. Therefore, my painting can be viewed as a form of anti-reality. It has no tradition or history-based content, but it stands for the greatness of synchronicity.
